Bloodstone

bloodstone (also known as heliotrope) is an opaque, dark chalcedony quartz dotted with flecks of bright red or orange from iron oxide. Bloodstone has a rich history that spans thousands of years. The ancient Greeks and Romans referred to it as heliotrope, meaning "sun-turning," believing that submerging the stone in water would turn the sun's reflection red. During the Middle Ages, the red spots were thought to represent the blood of Christ, leading to legends that the stone held magical healing powers.
